Each year Lincoln students participate in a variety of fine arts
(art and music) and sporting events. The fundamental aim of SAISA
is to promote collaboration, creativity, sportsmanship, and fair,
ethical competition. Through SAISA events, students come together
to participate in various activities in the truest spirit of cooperation
and competition. Please contact Lincoln’s Athletic Director,
Mr. Bill Warren should you have any additional
questions or concerns.
Lincoln is the smallest school within SAISA at present but nonetheless
has an exciting and distinguished history. Our teams are consistently
successful against larger opponents and Lincoln regularly finishes
among the top four teams in tournaments. We’ve had recent
strings of championships in volleyball and basketball (both boys’
and girls’) and – in 2000 – even won all four
titles in the same year. Our football (soccer) and tennis teams
are among the best in the region, and our track and swimming teams
are growing every year. Our musical Snow Leopards are also respected
– Lincoln’s choir is the largest of all the SAISA
schools, and our finest performers have been featured on the Festival
Honors Recital.
Eligibility Requirements
To be
eligible to participate in SAISA events, students must maintain
a grade point average of at least C, with no grades lower than
a C- on the last grading report. If a student’s academic
performance decreases significantly at any time during the practice
season (and at least 3 weeks before the tournament), a student
may be declared ineligible. If this occurs, he or she may appeal
the decision. In the case of an appeal, all of the student’s
teachers and the principal must grant permission for a student
to participate in SAISA events. In addition, the student-athlete
and his or her parents must sign a contract to allow participation.
For those of you who are familiar with the American system, SAISA
is our version of varsity-level competitions. The fundamental
aim of SAISA is to promote collaboration; creativity; sportsmanship;
and fair, ethical competition. Through SAISA events, students
from within the region come together to participate in various
activities in the truest spirit of teamwork and competition. Each
year Lincoln School hosts one or two tournaments; otherwise, students
travel to another school in the conference, during which they
are housed with students and families of other schools. When recent
graduates are asked about their most memorable experiences while
studying at Lincoln, participating in SAISA is among the most
frequently reported responses.
Since we value academics above athletics and want to make certain
that participating students understand their priorities as well,
we do have some requirements for SAISA athletes.
