MISSION
The
Parents' Association of Lincoln School, PALS, plays a vital role
in the life of Lincoln School. Organized in 1999, PALS' mission
is to promote a cohesive community and to support a quality education
program. We seek to accomplish this mission by:
• Facilitate communication among parents and within the
broader school community.
• Encouraging and providing a sense of community through
school-based activities.
• Providing a parent forum to promote and facilitate an
exchange of ideas about issues and concerns related to education,
growth, and development of our children.
• Supporting ongoing and new programs.
• Providing a support mechanism for old new families to
the Lincoln Community
• Encouraging and recruiting volunteer participation.
• Supporting Lincoln students and school projects with funds
raised through PALS activities.
EVENTS
PALS
undertakes a number of activities during the school year. Some
of these are fund-raising efforts which support new and ongoing
programs to benefit our students and the community.
• Parent Social Functions: Hosting activities
such as coffee mornings periodically through out the school year
to create community connections among Lincoln School's parents.
•New Families: Welcome new families to
the Lincoln School community and support them when needed.
• UN Day Celebration: An annual assembly
to proudly display the diversity of Lincoln School in conjunction
with UN Day.
• Parent Lecture Series: Presentations
by specialists on child development, education and other issues
of interest to parents.
• Silent Auction: A fun-filled evening
with opportunities to bid on a variety of items. Proceeds support
school-based activities.
• School Carnival: A fun and exciting day
filled with games, activities and food for the whole family to
enjoy.
• Staff Appreciation Day: A day to say
"Thank you" to all the Lincoln School Staff.
• SAISA Support: SAISA is the South Asian
International School Association which provides athletic competitions
and art/drama/and music festivals. PALS assists with housing and
food when SAISA events are held at Lincoln School.
MEMBERSHIP
All parents and guardians of students at Lincoln School, as well
as teachers, are automatically members of PALS and are encouraged
to be active in the organization. Our meetings are open to all
members. If you are interested in participating or volunteering
for a special event, please contact any PALS officer. A list of
PALS Board members can be obtained from the school front desk
or the Lincoln Line.
PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Parent volunteers are needed for many of the school's activities.
This is an opportunity to get to know parents of your children's
friends, as well as members of the Lincoln School community. Please
join us as a PALS volunteer. You can participate as much or as
little as your time allows.
