Week 15 Update

Good afternoon,

During the two days in class this week, the kids worked to improve upon their writing by going back and adding labels to their pictures, using the word wall to spell tricky words, fix up snap words, using punctuation to end a sentence, and putting a space between each word. As many writers are beginning to find their storytelling voice, they are learning to write a beginning, middle, and end to their stories. Also, as writers, they have learned to work with a partner to make their writing a little easier to read.

Like in writing, the kids also get to read with a partner. They enjoy hunting for snap words, see-saw reading (taking turns), choral reading (reading together), talking about the pictures, and doing book talks (book recommendations).  They continue to use their reading powers when reading on their own and with a partner.

In math, the kids practiced skip-counting by tens and fives!

They continue to observe the growth of the seed they planted but have moved on to discussing and learning about the basic needs of animals.
