Mystery Mixtures in 8th Grade Science

In 8th grade science, students have started an Investigation of Chemical Interactions. Last week, students were given a mystery mixture of 2 substances and had to conduct experiments and research to determine what was in this mystery mixture. First, they read texts about the substances and presented the information they learned to their class. Then, they completed a virtual lab in learning groups to see how the substances reacted with water and what happened after evaporation. Finally, they compared all of these observations to the mystery mixture to hypothesize what substances it was made of.
