Grade Fives Bake Friendship Pie

Today, on one of her bi-weekly visits, Ms. Hillary read Enemy Pie. She used the text to introduce a mischievous relationship that leads to an amusing and unexpected ending. The students came to the conclusion that the enemy pie was indeed a friendship pie. This reinforced the Lincoln value of compassion.
Then, the students were thrilled with the responsibility of crafting a too good to be true friendship pie recipe. The inevitable learning atmosphere created an enriching environment where the students reflected on respect and empathy.
