Week 8 in G1!

We accomplished a lot in just 4 days this week!

We practiced double-checking our reading at a tricky word to make sure it looks right with the letters and makes sense with the story. In writing, each student edited his/her best writing piece by rereading to make sure it makes sense and checking for ending punctuation and capital letters. Students explored counting larger groups of objects and learned to use parts-and-total diagrams to add and subtract in math.

Social Studies Homework: Please help your student complete the artifact interview (that came home Tuesday) over the weekend and return it to school no later than Tuesday 10/10. Be in touch if you have any questions about the assignment.

Students will not come home with new word sorts in their Take Home Folders on Monday and will continue practicing the sort they learned this week. New sorts will come home again on 10/16.

I look forward to seeing all of you tomorrow at conferences. Remember, it is a no-student day.
