Hello Parents of 10-14 year olds:
Danny Smartt and I are working with Karkhana, a science/math/engineering cooperative in Gyaneschwor (http://www.karkhana.asia/about/) to try to put together a one-week summer camp in June for those of us in Kathmandu at that time. Some of you may have had children who attended a camp in the winter of 2014 there organized by Susan Parker-Burns.
Karkhana is offering a workshop called Creative Computing.
Creative Computing Workshop:
About the workshop: This workshop focuses on making interactive games using some programming and an Arduino. The video game generation enjoys it quite a bit apparently :-) This workshop, Creative Computing, is about 30 hours of time. It would take up most of the day with lunch and breaks thrown in.
Dates: 13-17 June
Times: Start at 8 or 8:30, End daily at 2 - 3 PM (details to be finalized), Lunch included.
Location: Karkhana's facilities in Gyaneschwor
Ages: 10-14 years old
Cost: Approximately $200 USD for the week (includes lunch), which assumes 8 participants. Note that the minimum number of participants is 8. If there are 15 campers, then the price goes to $125/participant.
We are sending this out to parents we know have 10-14 year olds, but please feel free to forward to other parents we may not know.
If you are interested:
Please email me or Danny at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. Let us know the names and ages of your interested campers or questions you may have. We would need to have the minimum of 8 participants.
